My diary for Thursday, 02/07/2009

Thursday and Kate's been round this evening with my little sister Susie. Sunday they’d gone round town getting all the free sample sachets of hair goo and perfume and wax and nail stuff, and this evening they tried them - all at the same time. Over supper I was getting, mmm, coconut, musk, roses, violets, tangerines, woodsmoke, with hints of chocolate, fence paint and faint whiffs of Marmite. Kate didn’t say much, just played with her hair, but I caught her looking at me when she thought I wouldn’t notice. After eating I was just settling down on the sofa to watch the tele when she and Susie came in and said, could they watch it too? Sure, I said. After a while Susie got bored and read Bliss, but Kate stayed on the sofa next to me her leg against mine – and I couldn't stand up for a bit after what with this hard thing in my trousers like.
